Lunch Seminar: “The Trump Administration’s Inner Circle: Challenges and Uncertainty for Global Pharma”

The effects of the presidential election in the US looks set to bring about major changes for researchbased pharmaceutical companies, not least with regard to the new president’s announced appointments to various key positions in the Government authorities responsible for health issues, including pharmaceuticals.

As Mr Donald Trump will be installed as US President on 20 January, Lif wants to increase the awareness among the association’s members about the new expected landscape and prepare the members for any potential Trump administration initiatives with implications for EU and Sweden in general and the pharma industry in particular.

Lif and AmCham therefor invites you to a seminar with experts on US politics and policies to examine the key players and policies expected to inform and animate a second Trump administration. Potential opportunities that Lif and its members could pursue during this presidential term will also be explored. And, there will be generous time allotted for questions from the audience.

At the seminar you will listen to and interact with:

Billy McCormac: Billy has over 25 years of experience in communications, lobbying and issue advocacy. Since the late 1990s, Billy has provided commentary on American politics, elections and culture for numerous major broadcast and print media outlets. His family’s connections with the Republican party date back to the 1940s. Billy remained a party member until 2014, and he has voted for both major parties ever since. Billy closely follows the conservative and libertarian movements in America – not least when it comes to the public health, pharmaceutical and food industries.

Elizabeth Walentin: Elizabeth currently heads communications and public affairs for the Nordics at Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine, and is a long-standing board member of AmCham. She holds a Master’s degree in public policy from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University and has a background in political campaigns and as a US political expert on Swedish TV and radio. Originally from the US, Elizabeth has lived in Sweden for two decades. She was previously a PR consultant working with clients in the life science sector.

Sofia Wallström: Sofia has a long experience working within the Swedish Government, where she among other positions has been the Director General for TLV and IVO. Sofia is now the Director General for Lif.

Peter Dahlen: Peter is the Managing Director of AmCham and has previously been working on then Senator Joseph R. Biden, Jr.’s 1996 re-election campaign and subsequently on his Senate Judiciary Committee staff.

Jenni Nordström: Jenni is Head of International Relations at Lif and will be moderating the discussion.
